Stevie Nicks tapped for BMI Icon Award

Stevie Nicks is being recognized for her contributions to music.  The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman has been tapped to receive the BMI Icon Award, which honors artists for their "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." 

Barbara Cane, a rep for the songwriters and publishers organization, praises Nicks as "an extraordinary songwriter and pedigree artist of stunning genius and unwavering grace."  She adds that Stevie has "defined an era of pop and rock culture around the world with her brilliance and unforgettable magnificence." 

Previous BMI Icon recipients include Paul Simon, Carole King, and John Fogerty. 

Nicks will be honored at the 62nd annual BMI Pop Awards, which also recognize the most performed rock and pop songs of the previous year.  The event will take place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on May 13th.
